(Timoteo, Timotheo) [died 97 A.D.], Bishop and Martyr. "œThe beloved Son in Faith"� of St. Paul, who accompanied Paul in his missionary journeys. He was the head of the Church in Ephesus. The Apostle Paul wrote him two letters, which are among the canonical books of the Bible. A legend tells us that while in prison, two angels came to comfort him. According to a very ancient tradition, St. Timothy was stoned to death in AD 97 for denouncing the worship of Dionysius. His feast is January 26.
