(Andres, Andre, Andrea, Andreas) [1821-1846], came from one of the noblest families in Korea. His father and great-grandfather were also martyred for the faith. Andrew was a man of great intelligence, strong personality and deep faith. He studied for the priesthood in Macao and was ordained in Shanghai, becoming Korea's first Catholic priest. He returned to Korea in late 1845, was arrested in 1846, and after 3 months, was beheaded with many other Korean martyrs. His feast is September 20.
