[1474-1540] was left an orphan. She began teaching catechism to the children of her village. She founded the Ursulines, the first teaching order of women in the Church. Her sisters taught catechism and educated young girls. Ahead of her time, Angela founded an uncloistered, flexible society of women, without habits, vows or community life. That all came later. She is shown with a young girl. Her feast is January 27.
