[1828-1898], became a monk of the Maronite Rite at the age of 20. He spent 23 years as a hermit, trying to live the austere life of the Desert Fathers. He ate no meat, no fruit and drank no wine but communion. He had a great love of the Eucharist. Charbel had a profound influence in his region, even among the Muslims. He is shown with the Eucharist and with the Cedar of Lebanon. He died on Christmas Eve. His feast is December 24.
