(Riccardo, Riczi, Rye, Rastsislaw) [1197-1253], Bishop, was born into poverty. He studied at Oxford, Paris and Bologna. He became Chancellor of Oxford University and later Chancellor to two Archbishops of Canterbury. He Died at Dover while preaching the Crusade to encourage pilgrimages to the Holy Land. A model pastor, known for his moral integrity, he was kindly, accessible and compassionate. Many miracles and cures occurred at his shrine. He was canonized in 1262. He is shown as a bishop with a chalice on its side at his feet. His feast is April 3.
